If you have a lot of interesting article in your website, then visitors will stay longer in your website. If this happen, then the Bounce Rate will decrease. Website with low Bounce Rate is preferred by Google. To make sure that your visitors know there are a lot of interesting and useful article in your website, you can add Related Post below your article. But sometime, common Related Post (Related Post that just using Text only) is not enough to pay attention of the readers. So it will be effective if you use Related Posts with Thumbnails.

A lot of my friends ask me about how to change favicon in their blog / website. If you don’t know what is favicon, favicon is the icon that usually appear on the left side of our title in the tab of our browser. The icon also appear as bookmark icon on your browser. The favicon is more like a logo for your website and it is advised that you use one to make your website more beautiful. I will explain how to add / change the favicon in website and the most used blogging platform (WordPress & Blogger)

Create a Favicon File

The first thing you must do is create a favicon file. You can create this by Photoshop or other graphic design tools you usually use. Icon files usually recognized with ico extention. But, for this you don’t have to use *.ico file , it can be any image file (GIF, PNG or ICO) but make sure the size of the Favicon is not too big or it will make your website become slower to open. Make sure sizes are square, it can be 16×16, 32×32, 64×64 or 128×128 (It’s better not use size larger than 128×128). You also can generate icon files from a picture. Here are tools to make favicon :

How to change favicon on  website?

For website, you just need to edit your index.html page. Just place this script below </TITLE> on your HTML code

Save the html file and upload it to your webhosting. Open your website, and the favicon will appear.

How to change favicon on WordPress?

Once you have uploaded the Favicon, enter your Admin Area (http://yourblogname.com/wp-admin), and click Appearance>Editor. Open  Header.php file in your WordPress admin panel. Paste this code anywhere in the file:

Once this is done save the settings and open your site. You should see your new Favicon next to your web URL on the address bar.

Alternately you can use WordPress plug-in WP Favicon or Admin Favicon. Search on WordPress Plug-In Add New area. Install and activate it and enter the path of the Favicon in the plug-in options.

How to change favicon on Blogger?

By default, favicon in blogger would be like this :

If you use free blogger (blogspot), you’ll need to upload the favicon file in free images hosting or photo sharing like Photobucket or Tinypic. If you use blogger on your own domain, you can upload the favicon file into your website directory.

Now enter your Blogger control panel. Click Design>Edit HTML. Look for the “<title><data:blog.pageTitle/></title>” code in the editor. Once you’ve found the text paste the following code below it :

Click Save Template, and try to open your blog again. You should see your new Favicon.

I used Mac as my primary OS. But i still can’t get away at all from MS Windows. Don’t get me wrong, i really love Mac OS X Leopard. But i still can’t say goodbye to Windows. So i still use Parallel Desktop to run Windows on my Leopard. Why? Because there are some software only supported on Windows and i couldn’t find its replacement on Mac. Besides Metatrader 4 which is used for forex trading (there is no mac version for MT4 platform until today), Windows Live Writer is one of them. I’ve tried Blogging Tools on Mac like Marsedit & Ecto , but i still prefer Windows Live Writer for my blogging writer tools. The good part of this software is it’s free !!!

So what is Windows Live Writer?

Windows Live Writer, developed by Microsoft, is a desktop blog-publishing application with features WYSIWYG authoring, photo-publishing and map-publishing functionality, and is currently compatible with almost all blog platform like Windows Live Spaces, SharePoint blogs, Blogger, LiveJournal, TypePad, WordPress, Telligent Community, PBlogs.gr, JournalHome, Blogengine and all blogs that support RSD (Really Simple Discoverability).

What we can do in Windows Live Writer?

WLW makes it so easy for us to write articles, share photos and videos. Just like write an article in Microsoft Office and just click Publish Button to make it visible for internet users arround the world. I have multiple blog account (most of them on WordPress and Blogger), and right now i don’t need to login on my WordPress platfom each time i want to write a new post for my blog. Just need to open my WLW, it support multiple account at once.

I suggest you to try this program because this software help me much and save much time on blogging.

Tips to fix error when adding account on WLW for WordPress User

Just another note for you who using WordPress Platform. When adding WP account on WLW, you’ll encounter this error.

“An error occured while attempting to connect to your blog: Blog Server Error – Server Error 405 Ocurred XML-RPC services are disabled on this blog. An admin user can enable them at……/wp-admin/options-writing.php. You must correct this error before proceeding.”

I googled about this error and found the answer. Thanks for EE for this post which gave me info I’m going to share below. Here how to fix this error.

1. Log in to your wordpress admin
2. Go to “Settings”
3. Click “Writing”
4. Find the XML-RPC option as shown below.
5. Tick the little box
6. “Save Changes”

Try to add account on WLW again, and there shouldn’t be a problem anymore.
