Hong Kong MTR (Mass Transit Railway) System Map

January 17th, 2012 5 comments

Mass Transit Railway (MTR) is name of rapid transit railway system in Hongkong. Because i just traveled in Hongkong, today i will share about Hongkong MTR Map. Hongkong MTR is the backbone of the railway system in Hongkong. You can access a lot of place including Hongkong Disneyland, Ferry Terminal, Airport and even Shenzhen (China) by just using this MTR. Compared to MRT in another country, Hongkong MTR offering more efficiency. For me, Hongkong MTR is the most efficient MRT i ever ride. I frequently doesn’t need to walk too far when switching line. That what i like from Hongkong MTR. This MTR system is currently operated by MTR Corporation Limited (MTRCL).

Shanghai Metro System Map

October 25th, 2011 No comments

Like other MRT in mainland (China), Shanghai MRT is well known as Shanghai Metro. Shanghai Metro is the urban rapid transit that incorporates both subway and light metro lines in Shanghai. Shanghai metro recognized as one of the fastest-growing and busiest rapid transit systems in the world. Even, the Shanghai Metro was built after Beijing Metro and Tianjin Metro in China, it is now has exceeded it’s predecessor.  I just tried Shanghai Metro couple days ago when i went on trip to Shanghai. Actually, i had a unpleasant experience when using Shanghai Metro. When i tried to go to the Bund at night, i must paid twice because there is a metro station that should be the exchange line station is not connected (the building of each line is separated). So if it is the first time you go by MRT in Shanghai, you must be careful. Just pay attention to the exchange line of each MRT Station. If the dot (circle) is separated, then i don’t suggest you to switch line at that station. It will be better to switch line at overlapping dot station.

Nanjing Metro (MRT) System Map

October 23rd, 2011 No comments

I just traveled to Nanjing couple days ago. Too bad, i don’t have a chance to try the MRT (Metro) there. Actually i have seen the Metro signboard when i walk around Nanjing that time, but when i follow the sign, i could find the Metro Station. Nanjing Metro (MRT) has just opened in 2005. It’s quite new compared to Beijing Subway and Tianjin Metro. But the line has been built is only 2 line (similar to Tianjin Metro). So we couldn’t only depend to this Metro to go every place in Nanjing. The fare for Nanjing metro is varies and it’s distance-based. Minimum fares is 2 yuan (USD $0.30) for one journey.

Tianjin Metro (MRT) System Map

One of my favorite transport during my travel abroad is Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) or in some place called Subway / Metro. Unfortunately Tianjin Metro (MRT) still far from convenient. There is only 2 line available (Line 1 & Line 9) here and it doesn’t connect each other. So i can’t go to a lot of place in Tianjin by using MRT only. Of course it’s very different if it compared to other city MRT on other city in China like Beijing, Shanghai and Hongkong. So i depend on bus as my main transport during my stay here. But… although right now MRT in Tianjin can’t be used conveniently, in the future Tianjin will have a very good MRT System. I can see from the MRT system map plan. Today i will share to you about Tianjin Metro (MRT) System Map here.

Beijing Subway Map (MRT Map)

Beijing Subway is the most crowded MRT i ever ride. With the biggest population in the world, no wonder that the Beijing Subway is very crowded. Even my friend said to me that if you still can look your own feet, then the Subway is still not to crowded. For me Beijing Subway is not as convenient as Singapore MRT.  The subway itself is operated by two operators,  Beijing Mass Transit Railway Operation Corp which operates 13 lines, and the Beijing MTR Corp, a public-private joint-venture with the Hong Kong MTR, which manages the other two lines. The Beijing Subway is the first MRT that opened in Mainland, China. It first line opened in 1969, and the metro network has now grown to 15 lines.

Kuala Lumpur LRT and Monorail Map

February 28th, 2011 No comments

Having a trip to Kuala Lumpur is far more easier than i thought. This is because the availability of Monorail (MRT), LRT and KTM in Kuala Lumpur, especially if you choose to stay at KL Sentral. Compared to MRT in Singapore or MTR in Hongkong, Monorail in Kuala Lumpur is quite cheap. For short distance, i only spent about RM 1.5 to 2 ($0.4 – $0.6) only. And you can access all important place and landmark in Kuala Lumpur just by using LRT and Monorail, such as Bukit Bintang, Chinatown, Petronas Twin Tower, Batu Cave, KLIA Airport, etc. To make your trip easier, i share to you the Monorail Map of Kuala Lumpur. Hope this will help.
