July 1st, 2010 4 comments

All this time, I frequently heard some words like this. “A was succeed because he had talent,” “B since born was genius, not surprise knowing that he become successful people now,” and etc… etc.. In our daily life, I guess you were too often hear things like that. Many people assume that success, intelligence, expertise is something that is pure acquired from birth. Many of them make excuses so they do not have to try. In fact, although talent is one factor that has influence on the success of someone, but it is not the only factor. If you ever watch the movie “Forest Gump” starring Tom Hanks, you certainly know what I mean. A fool could be succeed as long there is a will. And here are some stories of great people of their era that will open our eyes. That success is not derived from talent alone, but a strong will and unyielding attitude.

1. Albert Enstein

Wonderful Story : I Cried For My Brother Six Times

June 18th, 2010 4 comments

Nowdays, there are many conflicts around sibling in a family. So many people even fight each other more seriously when they grown up. What i most found in real life is the conflicts between sibling (brother / sister) who fight each other to obtain  heritage when their parents is gone. This is the prove that people’s morality decrease significantly. Sometimes we have to think for a while. Is it worth it if we have to fight each other for money or something else. There are a good story show how the true brother/sister relationship should be. One of them are the Children of Heaven which you can found on my recommended movie post. But today, I will share another good story to read. This is about love between brother and sister. Hope this story will make us to ponder about our relationship with our sibling or another family member. Happy reading…..

I was born in a secluded village of a mountain.Days by days my parents plowed the yellow dry soilwith their backs facing the sky.

I have a younger brother, 3 years younger than me.Once, to buy a handkerchief which all girls around meseemed to have, I stole 50 cents from my father’s drawer. Father known about it right away. June 15th, 2010 1 comment

Have you ever heard Zappos? If you follow the news, i thought you must already know this company. Zappos is a online shoe retailer that was acquired by Amazon on June 2009 (last year). Amazon has acquired Zappos for $850 million. Why Amazon want to buy Zappos? The answer can be found on Mashable site on this article. One of the factor why Zappos can be successful is the leadership of the management team of Zappo which is lead by it’s CEO, Tony Hsieh. In 1999, Tony Hsieh sold LinkExchange, the company he co-founded to Microsoft for $265 million. He then joined Zappos as an adviser and investor, and eventually became CEO. In 2009, Zappos was listed as one of Fortune magazine’s top 25 companies to work for, and was acquired by Amazon later that year in a deal valued at over $1.2 billion on the day of closing.

Wonderful Story : Wisdom 3 x 8 = 23

June 11th, 2010 2 comments

This is one of my favorite story about Wisdom. This story happened on Tang Dynasty in China, when Confucius live. Confucius was a thinker and social philosopher, whose teachings and philosophy have deeply influenced Asian people thought and way of life. In this story, we can learn that wisdom doesn’t mean that we have to be correct all the time. As we can see together, almost all trouble in this world happen when everyone argue each other which one is right and which one is wrong. Sometimes, we forget what the most important is… Let’s learn from this story what called wisdom.

Yan Hui was Confucius’s favorite disciple who love learning, he also have a good personality.

One day when Yan Hui was on duty, he saw a fabric store was surrounded by many people. He approached and found a buyer and seller of fabric is being debated.

Buyer shouted: “3 X 8 = 23, why did you say 24?”

Yan Hui fabric buyers approached and said: “My friend, 3 X 8 = 24, no longer debatable.”

June 10th, 2010 2 comments

Life can’t be separated with a thing called money. Some experts even said that 90% of divorces are rooted in financial problems.

There are six warning signs of financial problem based on Federal Deposit Insurance guidelines

  • Loan payments, excluding mortgages, but including credit card charges, take up more than 20% of your monthly net income.
  • You are close to, or surpass, your credit card limit.
  • You must borrow to make payments on existing loans.
  • You only pay the minimum amount on your bill.
  • Lack of money is forcing you to pay bills late or postpone doctor’s visits.

Review Buku Hiduplah Anakku, Ibu Mendampingimu by Michiyo Inoue

Today I just finished reading the book Hiduplah Anakku, Ibu Menampingimu (Be Live my Daughter, Mother will be there for you) by Michiyo Inoue. This book is the second version of Miyuki Inoue story after the first book with title Aku Terlahir 500 Gr dan Buta (I was born 500 Gr and Blind) by Miyuki Inoue. This second book is a book from the viewpoint of the mother on the journey of her life with Miyuki Inoue, a girl who was born 500 grams and blind since birth. This book really opened my eyes and inspired me all about how to live. Many of us are very easy to feel frustrated and feel give up when faced little problems in life. But if you have time to read the story of Miyuki Inoue, we would be ashamed if you feel like it. Relentless spirit that carried with her mother Miyuki Inoue Michiyo really quite extraordinary. People who have physical disabilities usually live alone and do not have a spirit to life. But it didn’t happen on Miyuki Inoue. She doesn’t feel her blindness is a limitation. She doing everything like  common people. These are things that I really admire her.

Awaken The Giant Within Review of Awaken The Giant Within by Anthony Robbins

One of best book i ever read in my whole life. Anthony Robbins really give a new perspective about how the way we think as human. This is the second book i read after his first book, Unlimited Power. In this book, he described a lot about the key to change our habit, how to take decision to change our destiny, comfort and sorrow law, CANI (Constant and Neverending Improvements) system, NAC (Neuro Assosiative Condition), how to control our emotion, the power of words & faith, how to live happily, and many other technique. This book really complete and detail. I used a lot explanation in this book as my guidance for my life. I can become a happy and resourceful people everyday because of his books. Anthony Robbins also learn from lot of gurus. I love most of his quotes. some of them is "every leader is a reader", "the past didn’t equal the future". no doubt, Tung Desem Waringin (the best trainer in Indonesia) can talk very good, because he learn from the best. For me, Anthony Robbins is the best motivator in the world. So pity, i never meet him directly. Last chapter of this book also tell about how we can be a hero by contributing our effort to make world a better place to live. This what i like from Anthonny Robbins. Beside tried to achieve our goal for success, we also teached to give and help other people who need help.
