Since several weeks ago, i has been enjoying myself by playing NDS game called Donkey Kong: Jungle Climber. Yes … From the title, all of you must already know, this game is one of three Donkey Kong game which was released for Nintendo DS. Talking about one of this Nintendo’s mascot is actually have made quite an interesting history to scrutiny. Even not as popular as Mario, Donkey Kong is one of the oldest and the most consistent character that always appear in every Nintendo platform. I also enjoyed play Donkey Kong on NES and Donkey Kong Country on SNES. Therefore this time I’ll try to covered all things about Donkey Kong. Let’s see about the history first.

 

How Donkey Kong created?

Donkey Kong character created by Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of the legendary Mario Brothers and Zelda series. Donkey Kong itself could be regarded as the first successful character made by Miyamoto in his career in the world of gaming.

Donkey Kong’s character creation occurs after Shigeru Miyamoto got a task from Nintendo to renovate a game called Radar Scope that has a poor outcome to be a quality game.


This Radar Scope’s hardware then has been used by Miyamoto to create first Donkey Kong game.

In 1981, Falcon created a legitimate clone of Donkey Kong known as Crazy Kong. Donkey Kong Brand itself has a copyright issue problem, because MCA Universal ever sued Nintendo for Donkey Kong’s figures that is very similar to King Kong. Universal ultimately unsuccessful claim anything from Nintendo, because apparently the Universal did not own the copyright to King Kong either.

 

Donkey Kong Games

The games have been developed by a variety of developers including Nintendo, Rare, Namco and Paon. Most of Donkey Kong games developed by Nintendo. Since the first Donkey Kong game released for arcade in 1981, there are more 20 games released after that. Donkey Kong series is among the best-selling video game franchises with over 49 million games sold worldwide. The success of the series is commonly placed on its technical innovation and entertaining platforming sequences. Here are the complete list of Donkey Kong Games.

Donkey Kong

Year : 1981

Platform : Arcade

First released for Arcade, this is the first Donkey Kong game ever made. Developed by Nintendo, this game also introduce the Jumpman (known as Mario later). The gameplay is really simple. What you have to do is control the Jumpman to avoid all the barrels Donkey Kong thrown to save Pauline (the lady) kidnapped by Donkey Kong. The game divided into 4 different one screen stages. This game also released for Intellivision, NES, Commodore 64, Apple II & Atari 8-bit 2-3 years later.

 

Donkey Kong Jr.

The first sequel of Donkey Kong. The Jumpman officialy named as Mario in this game. In this game, Mario become the antagonist. This time, Donkey Kong Jr. trying to save his father Donkey Kong who has been imprisoned. Donkey Kong has been kidnapped by Mario and placed in the cage. This game has been split in 4 stages. The game also released for Famicom, NES and other platform

Game & Watch Donkey Kong Games

There are 3 titles, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr and Donkey Kong II was released for Game and Watch platform.

– Donkey Kong

This game built based on Donkey Kong Arcade. Using Game & Watch multi screen, the player control Mario who trying to rescue his girlfriend from angry ape. Similar with Donkey Kong Arcade, Mario must climb the building while avoiding barrels.

– Donkey Kong Jr

Player control Donkey Kong Jr. as he works with his father while watching out crocodiles, birds and electronic flashes.

– Donkey Kong II

This game similar to last stage of Donkey Kong Jr in Arcade version. Donkey Kong Jr. has to climb up the rope below the keyhole, while avoiding electronic, birds. He has to unlocked the key 4 times to saves Donkey Kong.

Donkey Kong 3

Year : 1983

Platform : Arcade, Famicom

The third games of Donkey kong series developed by Nintendo. In this game, there is no Mario vs Donkey Kong again. This game introduce new character as the main character. He is Stanley the bugman. His job is shoot the pesticide to prevent Donkey Kong to stirring up the insects that will destroy his flowers. The game inspired by a shooting game titled Space Firebird.

Donkey Kong Jr. Math

This game actually is modification version of Donkey Kong Jr. Nintendo created an edutainment game where the player must solve a math problem in order to win the game. This game can be played on single player or two player modes. What the player do is choose the number and the math operations (addition, substraction, multiplication, division) to receive points and win the game.

Donkey Kong (Gameboy)

First Donkey Kong game released for handheld. The concept of the game created based on the first Donkey Kong game for Arcade, but also contain some puzzle elements. Like the first game, the player takes control of Mario to rescue Pauline from Donkey Kong. Donkey Kong Jr. also appear in this game on some levels, helping his father to defeat Mario. After completing four levels, Donkey Kong will bring Pauline further into the construction site leading to more levels for the player to enjoy

Donkey Kong Country

This is one of the best Donkey Kong game ever made. This game also the first Donkey Kong game developed by Rare (not directed by Shigeru Miyamoto). Rare make a breakthrough with modeled the characters in 3D imagery and converted them into 2D objects for the game. The game was extremely popular, and was the second best selling SNES game with over 8 million sales figure and become the best selling non-bundled SNES game all the time. The game focused around Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong going out to defeat King K. Rool and take back DK’s stolen Banana Hoard. The game offer 40 different side-scrolling levels. Each level is uniquely themed and consists of varying tasks such as swimming, riding in mine carts, launching out of barrel cannons, or swinging from vine to vine

Donkey Kong Country 2 : Diddy’s Kong Quest

Second Donkey Kong game developed by Rareware and become the sequel of first Donkey Kong Country. This time, Donkey Kong can’t be played as playable character, because he was kidnapped by King K. Rool. The main character of this game are Diddy Kong and his girlfriends Dixie Kong. Together, they travel and take some adventures in Crocodile Isle to save Donkey Kong from Kremling Krew. This game offers more level and more detailed graphic than the first game. DKC2 also offers many hidden bonus stages with collectible tokens (Kremcoins) and rare DK coins.

Donkey Kong Land

Another Donkey Kong’s game developed by Rareware. This game completely original follow the success of Donkey Kong series. The game tell a story about Cranky Kong who feel jealous of all the success Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong had reached from Donkey Kong Country. He states that all the success they got because of beautiful graphic and sound. he challenges that they’d never cut it on an 8-bit system, and then proceeds to get King K. Rool to steal banana hoard once again.There were four worlds in this game, all brand new but some of the level adapted from Donkey Kong Country world.

Donkey Kong Country 3 : Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble

Final installment of Donkey Kong trilogy. The game’s sales not as good as 2 previous game, due to the release of the Nintendo 64 system two months before the game’s release. The game introduce a new playable characters again, Kiddie Kong replacing Diddy Kong who had been missing with Donkey Kong this time. Kiddie Kong is Dixie Kong cousin. Both of them must discover the location where Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong missing on fishing trip. Meanwhile, Kremling Krew return to stealing the banana once again. Unlike the previous game, the game feature sea adventures theme.

Donkey Kong Land 2

Platform : Gameboy

This game developed based on Donkey Kong Country 2, but with more simple graphic design and levels. It was enchanced for Super Gameboy with different shades of color. Donkey Kong Land 2 more like a remake of Donkey Kong Country 2 : Diddy’s Kong Quest. The playable character are exactly same, they are Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong. They have to save Donkey Kong from King K. Rool and Kremling Krew.

Donkey Kong Land 3

Platform : Gameboy

Similar like Donkey Kong Land II, The third game of Donkey Kong Land developed based on SNES hit, Donkey Kong Country 3 : Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble. The difference between this game and the SNES version is the exploration aspects. The exploration map not as good as the console version. The game story is about a contest that begun with big prizes for first person who discovers the lost world. Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong already found it. And now its time for Dixie Kong and Kiddie Kong to discover it too. This game’s graphics also enchanced if played in Super Gameboy.

Diddy Kong Racing

Platform : Nintendo 64

Racing game that recorded as the fastest selling video game at the time with 800.000 copies ordered in two weeks before Christmast 1997. This game is the first racing game from Donkey Kong series. The gameplay of this game is similar with Mario Kart, but have more adventure mode. The player can choose to drive a car, hovercraft, or airplane in different world level. Each world contains several race tracks, an unlockable battle stage and a race against a boss character.

Donkey Kong 64

The game follow up the Donkey Kong Country trilogy. Donkey Kong back to be playable character in this game. With four of his relatives (Diddy, Lanky, Chunky and Tiny), they try to win back the Golden Banana Hoard and defeat King K. Rool. Unlike Donkey Kong Country series, in this game player can use five Kongs on the game. Each Kongs have different abilities. There are 8 levels to finished in this game. The gameplay itself similar to Super Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie

Donkey Konga

Year : 2004
Developer : Namco & Nintendo
Platform : Gamecube

This game was developed jointly by Namco and Nintendo. It is a rhythm game similar with Dance Dance Revolution. The game intended to be played with a special controller called DK Bongos. This controller is two small drums. Donkey Kong Konga was developed by the team who made Taiko : Drums Master. The songs in this game picked from several Nintendo Games like Mario series, Legend of Zelda series, and other Nintendo music.

Donkey Konga 2

Platform : Gamecube

The first sequel of Donkey Konga. The game doesn’t change much compared to the first game. The significant differences is on the songs and graphics. There are over 30 new songs to play with DK Bongos. Meanwhile the graphics slightly improved and there are some minigame addition on the game.

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat

Platform : Gamecube

Another Donkey Kong games that can be played using DK Bongos. The game try to combine Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Konga become one. The gameplay of this game involves combat, jumping and counterattacking. The gameplay quite unique, because you move Donkey Kong by DK Bongos. Hitting the left drum make DK move to left, while hitting the right drum make DK move to the right. Hitting both of drum will make DK jump. Clapping one hand or hitting sides of drum will make DK to clap. The goal of this game is to get as many point as you can.

Mario vs Donkey Kong

The rivalry between Mario and Donkey Kong revives again. Donkey Kong sitting home watching television commercial about mini Marios on his television. He interesting to the toys and decide to buy one on the store. When found that the store has out of stock, Donkey Kong raids the toy factory and steals dozens of mini Marios toys. Mario who work on the factory tried to get back the toys by chasing Donkey Kong. This game is a combination of Donkey Kong Arcade version and Super Mario Bros 2. The gameplay itself offers some puzzle elements challenging Mario to find keys, reach the unlocked door and rescue mini Marios. The control similar to Donkey Kong Gameboy version. Mario have an ability to perform handstands and backflip.

Donkey Kong King of Swing

This is a new Donkey Kong game that offer new gameplay that never seen before. In the game, players swing around on pegs.The character uses pegs to swing to the end of levels instead of using traditional platforming methods. The story of the game is about the Jungle Jam Tournament. The tournament has been held to determine who will be the jungle hero. King K. Rool steals the medals, prizes in the competition, and proclaims himself the jungle hero. In this game, player will control either Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong, to track down King K. Rool and the stolen medals. There are total 5 worlds separated in 20 levels and 5 boss levels in this game.

Donkey Konga 3 : Tabe-houdai! Haru Mogitate 50 Kyoku

Platform : Nintendo Gamecube

The third Donkey Konga that developed jointly by Namco and Nintendo. Donkey Kong offers total 57 songs (20 more than the second game). 35 of the tunes are classic, pop and game selection music. The other tunes came from Nintendo Famicom games are included. Unlike the previous Donkey Konga games, Donkey Konga 3 only released in Japan.

Donkey Kong Jungle Fever

One of two arcade Donkey Kong games that released for arcade during seventh generation of video games. This game is the sequel of Donkey Kong : Jungle Beat. Nintendo never released this game outsite Japan

Donkey Kong Banana Kingdom

The sequel of Donkey Kong Jungle Fever that also released for arcade. This game also one of two Donkey Kong game that developed by Capcom. Same like the previous game, this game only released in Japan.

Diddy Kong Racing (DS)

Platform : Nintendo DS

A remake of Nintendo 64 game with the same title, Diddy Kong Racing. This game is the first Donkey Kong game for Nintendo DS. The gameplay exactly same with Nintendo 64 version, except the dual screen features.

Mario vs Donkey Kong 2 : March of the Minis

Plaform : Nintendo DS

The game is a sequel to Mario vs. Donkey Kong for the Game Boy Advance. Not like the previous game, this time player will control several mini-Mario as playable characters of the game. This game offers more puzzle in gameplay. The game also features the return of Pauline (Marios’ girlfriend in Donkey Kong Arcade). Donkey Kong kidnapped Pauline again and this time Mario send his mini-Mario to rescue her. The game using stylus for touch screen to control mini Marios in the game.

Donkey Kong Barrel Blast

This game is a kart-styles racing game from Donkey Kong series. This game was originally developed for Gamecube but then moved to Wii. The game originally developed to be controlled by DK Bongos in Gamecube. When the game moved to Wii, it replaced with Wii Remote. This game doesn’t reach too much success. Many of gamer even give negative response because of slowing racing and boring gameplay.

Donkey Kong Jungle Climber

This is the sequel of Donkey Kong King of Swing that ever released for GameBoy Advance. The game offers similar gameplay. But the graphics has quite increased and more closely to Donkey Kong Country. Like the previous game, player will control Donkey Kong as main character. Diddy Kong will be support character in the game. To navigate the level, player must hold down L and R to jump, and press between L and R to hold and let go of pegs on every stage. This time Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong must take back five crystal banana that have been taken by King K. Rool.

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (Wii)

A remake version of Donkey Kong Jungle Beat that ever released for Gamecube. The Wii version offer New Play Control and widescreen support. It also offers new levels, modifications of old levels, and traditional controls that have the player use the analog stick to move and the A button to jump, unlike the GameCube version which required the player to beat the bongos to do both

Mario vs Donkey Kong : Minis March Again!

Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again! is a puzzle video game for the Nintendo DSi. This is the third game in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series. It was released on the Nintendo DSiWare. The game feature a level editor in which players can create custom-made levels and send them to players on other devices via a wireless Internet connection.

Donkey Kong Country Returns

Donkey Kong Country series recorded as the most successful Donkey Kong games ever made. That why Nintendo try to bring back the Donkey Kong Country into their newest platform, Nintendo Wii. Same with the previous game, this game is a side scrolling platform. This is also the first Donkey Kong Country game that is not developed by Rare. Player will take control of Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong. The gameplay is similar to Donkey Kong Country series. There will be mine chart level, swinging game, collecting banana and coins. The main difference this game compared to previous Donkey Kong Country series is the enemy. The antagonist is not filled by Kremling anymore. It replaced by Tiki.


Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem!

As i write this article, this is the latest Donkey Kong game title that released on the market. The game was made for Nintendo DS. This is the fourth game in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series. Like the previous game title, the gameplay is puzzle-based. The objective of each level is to lead a number of mechanical Mini-Mario toys to the exit.

Donkey Kong Characters

Since Donkey Kong Country, there are some Kong characters who usually appear on each Donkey Kong Games. The patriach of the Kong family is Cranky Kong, the eldest family member. Here are the complete list of Donkey Kong Characters :

Donkey Kong

First Appearance : Donkey Kong

Powerful Kong from Donkey Kong Island. His first apperance was in the Arcade game with the same name. He on battle with Mario because he kidnapped Mario’s girlfriend, Pauline. He then turn to be in caged by Mario in the next game (Donkey Kong Jr), and become antagonist again in Donkey Kong 3. His adventures continue with his buddies Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong in Donkey Kong Country. Since Donkey Kong Country, he must face his rival King K. Roll who lead his Kremling Krew to steal Banana from Donkey Kong Island.

 

Cranky Kong

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Country

He’s the father of Donkey Kong who always complaining and give advice for Donkey Kong. Although it has been in controversy, but Rare (developer of Donkey Kong Country series) state that Cranky Kong is the same Donkey Kong who battle with Mario in Donkey Kong Arcade. On his youth, he kidnapped Pauline and must battle with Mario who tried to save her. But based on some Nintendo official materials later, the characters who fight with Mario in the first Donkey Kong game is Donkey Kong, not Cranky Kong. His first appearance is on Donkey Kong Country as Cranky Kong, the eldest who usually give some advice for Donkey Kong.

Diddy Kong

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Country

The name Diddy is a slang word used in some parts of northern England for “small”. He is the second playable character in the first Donkey Kong Country game. He help Donkey Kong to defeat King K. Rool who stealed bananas from Donkey Kong Island. Then, he appears again in Donkey Kong Country 2 : Diddy’s Kong Quest as the main playable character accomponied by Dixie Kong on search mission of Donkey Kong after he kidnapped by King K. Rool. He then saved by Dixie Kong and Kiddie Kong. After Donkey Kong Country series, Diddy Kong appear in several games like Diddy Kong Racing, Donkey Kong 64, Donkey Kong Land, etc. Diddy Kong is Donkey Kong’s nephew

Dixie Kong

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Country 2 : Diddy’s Kong Quest

She is Diddy Kong’s girlfriend and Tiny Kong’s elder sister. She also have two cousins, Chunky Kong and Kiddy Kong. After accomponied Diddy Kong in Donkey Kong Country 2 : Diddy’s Kong Quest, she become main playable characters in Donkey Kong Country 3 : Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble. With Kiddie Kong, he must save Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong from King K. Rool. She become the first female playable character in Donkey Kong series. Her hair can create Helicopter Twirl to make her stay in the air for longer time.

Candy Kong

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Country

Candy Kong is Donkey Kong’s girlfriend. Her first appearance is at Donkey Kong Country. She usually stand on Save Point that allowed players to save their game. She was the first female Kong characters in Donkey Kong series. After appear in Donkey Kong Country series, she also appear to provide instrument in Donkey Kong 64.

Kiddie Kong

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Country 3 : Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble

Kiddy Kong is the youngest member of the Kong Family. He is the second playable character in Donkey Kong Country 3. With his cousin, Dixie Kong, he doing adventures in search of the missing Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong. He has great strength and is able to throw Dixie high up in the sky. Despite this he can bounce on water, which somewhat compliments Dixie’s Helicopter Twirl. When defeated, he pounds the ground with his fists and cries loudly.

Wrinkly Kong

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Country 2 : Diddy’s Kong Quest

Wrinkly Kong is the wife of Cranky Kong and mother of Donkey Kong. Wrinkly Kong is an intelligent Kong. Regardless of her death, her spirit continues participating in games, and aiding Donkey Kongs to defeat King K. Rool. She appears in most of Donkey Kong games but not as playable characters. She provides information or hints (similar to what Cranky Kong doing).

Funky Kong

First Appreance : Donkey Kong Country

Like the name, Funky Kong is a kong who have eccentric outlook. He always wear a glass and headband. He is one of Donkey Kong‘s best friends who usually offering some service (usually related to airplane) to his friends. Unlike most of his friends, Funky Kong doesn’t like adventuring. His hobby include such things as surfing and building various machinery such as vechiels and weapons.

Swanky Kong

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Country 2 : Diddy’s Kong Quest

Rich member of the Kong Family who usually hosts game-shows and other types of money making competitions. His first appearance is on Donkey Kong Country 2. Swanky give several quizzes in every area about the game.

Chunky Kong

First Appearance : Donkey Kong 64

Chunky Kong is a new character created after Donkey Kong Country series. He is the elder brother of Kiddy Kong and the cousin of Donkey Kong. He is the strongest of the Kong Family but is somewhat meek. In Donkey Kong 64, he is one of the Kongs captured by the Kremling Krew at start of the game. Despite his big body, he acts somewhat cowardly and childlish. He also doesn’t like heights.

Tiny Kong

First Appearance : Donkey Kong 64

Tiny Kong is Dixie Kong’s younger sister. She is also the cousin of Kiddy Kong and Chunky Kong. She is known for being both nimble and fast, and using her two Ponytails to accomplish different tasks. With only a few exceptions, she is playable in every game in which she appears.

Lanky Kong

First Appearance : Donkey Kong 64

Lanky Kong is a wacky looking orange Sumatran Orangutan who is a distant cousin of Kong family. He is one of many Kong captured by Kremling Krew in Donkey Kong 64.

 

King K. Rool

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Country

King K. Rool is an crocodilian who is the main villain of the series. He is the psychopathic king of the Kremlings who constantly antagonizes the Kongs and steals Donkey Kong’s banana hoard. His most distinguishing features are the tic in his left eye and his golden belly. In King K. Rool’s most common appearance, he wears a red cape and a gold crown, but he is fond of adopting many other looks and costumes as well.

 

Animal Buddies

Animal Buddies already appeared since Donkey Kong Country game. Animal Buddies are the animals that help Donkey Kong and his friends pass through the world and explore the secrets and hidden path in every level. Sometimes animal buddy also help Donkey Kong and his friends to defeat their enemies. Here are the complete list of Animal Buddies in Donkey Kong series

Rambi

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Country

Gray colored rhinoceros that become first animal buddy that Donkey Kong found for the first time in Donkey Kong Country game. Rambi attack anything on his front by his horn. Rambi also can jump on enemies that Donkey Kong and his friends can’t

Enguarde

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Country

With Squawks, Enguarde is animal buddy that has the most playable appearances in Donkey Kong Country series. Enguarde is great swimmers and his pointed bill can be used to attack his enemy in the water.

Squawks

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Country

Squawks is one of the most appearances animal buddy in Donkey Kong Country. Squawks is not a playable animal buddy. He first appear in Torchlight Trouble level on Donkey kong Country. He helps Donkey Kong see ahead of dark level by bringing a bright lantern to lights up surrounding area.

Expresso

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Country

Expresso is a large ostrich who wearing sneakers on his foot. Expresso can run at fast speeds and glide through the air by flapping his wings rapidly. Not like the other animal buddies, Expresso can’t attack enemies meaning he has no way to defend himself against threats.

Winky

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Country

Since he is a frog, Winky can jump extremely high. He can also defeat enemies that Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong cannot defeat. Additionally, Winky is one of Cranky Kong’s favorite animal buddies along with Expresso the Ostrich.

Glimmer

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Country 2 : Diddy’s Kong Quest

Glimmer is a brown anglerfish living in one of the island’s sunken ships in the Krem Quay. Glimmer appears in one level on Donkey Kong 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest. In that level, he aids Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong go through the oily black water using the bright light attached to his head. Glimmer cannot be harmed by enemies and follow behind Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong.

Clapper

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Country 2 : Diddy’s Kong Quest

Clapper is seal Animal Buddy who appear in the Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest. If the Kongs jump on him, he will cool down the water with his breath. Using his breath, he can cool down the boiling hot water or freeze water.

Rattly

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Country 2 : Diddy’s Kong Quest

Rattly is a large green and red ringed snake whose body is coiled, allowing him to jump high through the air like a spring. Rattly is allied with the Kongs and is described as “rebelling” against Kremling Krew. With his superb jumping ability, Rattly would allow the Kongs to reach high areas normally unreachable by them. Additionally, Rattly can jump on enemies that Diddy and Dixie wouldn’t normally jump on (ex : Zingers and Spinies).

Squitter

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Country 2 : Diddy’s Kong Quest

A large spider with orange and black fur who possesses the ability to fire webbing from his mouth. The webbing will either act as a projectile that can hurt enemies or become floating platforms that can be used to reach high areas. However, he cannot jump on enemies. His jumping is inferior to the Kongs, but his ability to make plaforms by his webs make Squitter an important animal buddy in the game.

Ellie

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Country 3 : Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble

Ellie is the first Animal Buddy known to be female in Donkey Kong series. She can carry barrels and pulling them in from a distance. He also can collect water in her trunk so she can shoot it later at the enemies.

Parry

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Country 3 : Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble

Parry only appears in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble!. He is not rideable Animal Buddy, but he can move parallel to Kiddy and Dixie Kong’s moves and grabs any item he hits. This ability making him a wonderful tool to help Kongs collects item.

Quawk

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Country 3 : Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble

Quawks the Parrot is a purple parrot that appeared in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble. He have phsyical perfomance that similar with Squawks, but different color. Unlike Squawks, Quawks does not have the ability of spitting eggs at enemies, but he can use his claws to pick up barrels and drop them on the ground to hit enemies.

Hoofer

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Jungle Beat

Hoofer is large black Wildebeest with yellow hair on his back. He is found on ice level on Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. Hoofer has abilities similart to Rambi from Donkey Kong Country. This wildebeest can crush anything in his front with ease.

Helibird

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Jungle Beat

The Helibird Parrots are a species who found in Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat. They are a group of birds that work like helicopters, carrying Donkey Kong to higher places. They appear frequently throughout the game, mostly in tree areas.

Orco

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Jungle Beat

Orco (previously known as Shachee in Europe) is a large blue killer whale found simply wandering around aimlessly. Donkey Kong can come up to Orco and grab on to its dorsal fin to ride her. Like Enguarde the Swordfish, Orco can smash through anything on her front. She can also leap out of the water and reach extreme heights.

Flurl

First Appearance : Donkey Kong Jungle Beat

Flurl the Squirrel (previously known as Ressar in Europe) is a red, lazy squirrel who usually be found sleeping in a tree. If Donkey Kong can grab Flurl’s tail, he will use Flurl like a parachute and glide through the air, which can allow Donkey Kong to collect airborne beats and reach new areas that are normally unreachable without him.

    Super Nintendo seems less troubling than the video games that most kids are plaiyng nowadays. At least in Donkey Kong they’re not stealing cars or assaulting prostitutes.
