There’s more to winter holidays than just skiing and snowboarding. If you’re searching for this year’s break, why not consider something new? What about snowshoeing through the Dolomites or dog sledding in the Arctic Circle?
With the winter holiday season upon us, many people’s thoughts will be turning to skiing or snowboarding. However, if you do a bit of research, you’ll find there are more winter activities to enjoy than just these two. So, if you’re looking for something a little bit more adventurous then why not put on your snowshoes or hooks up the huskies and experience more remote areas?

Walking With a Difference
You might be surprised to learn that snowshoeing is actually the fastest growing winter sport. Not only is it fairly inexpensive compared with traditional winter sports, but it’s also relatively safe, with little chance of injury. If you’ve never been on a winter exodus before, then snowshoeing is easy to learn and you won’t have to have extensive lessons before you get an opportunity to head off. Read more…
It’s really a good news for all Warcraft and Starcraft fans around the world. Just a couple months ago, the first amusement park created based on Warcraft and Starcraft has just opened last year to public in China. It’s World Joyland (Chinese : 嬉戏谷; pinyin : Xīxì Gǔ) that located in Changzhou, Jiangsu province. It’s just about two hours away from Shanghai if you go by train and bus. The park was built spread over 600,000 square meters and it’s cost about 200 million yuan (about $30 million USD). The park itself divided into five sections. Too bad, this is not official theme park of Warcraft and Starcraft, because the park was built without the use of the original name of the Blizzard. It’s mean that the park owners doesn’t need to pay a license to Blizzard. Starcraft section in this park has been renamed as Universe of Starship, while Warcraft section has been renamed as Terrain of Magic.

It’s already 5 days passed in Singapore. We already visited almost all the main tourist destination in Singapore. After spent the whole day at Universal Studio of Singapore yesterday, now it’s our time to visited Singapore Zoo, the most visited place of interest in Singapore based on Straight Times (Singapore local newspaper) in 2009. Actually, i plan to go to Singapore Botanic Garden first before heading to Singapore Zoo. But i was afraid we would not have enough time to visit all of place in that day, because we still have to visit my childhood friend, Cynthia who live in Singapore. We were out of the hotel earlier that day. Because we were a little saturated with the food at the food stall in front of our hotel, so that day we decided to eat at another place. Based on what i searched earlier on the internet, we went to Aljunied MRT Station. There were 2 vegetarian restaurant there. We took the bus at the bus stop we usually get off (Yi Xiu Fty Bldg). It need only 2 bus stop to arrive at Aljunied MRT Station. We finally found the vegetarian restaurant, it’s called Ci Hang Vegetarian Fast Food. But it’s still closed that time. There was a paper in the door said that it will open at 10:00. Because it’s already 09:45 that time, we decided to wait. Fortunately, the owner of the restaurant know that we were waiting outside, so she let us to came in before 10:00.

This was the day that we have long been waiting for. No doubt, Universal Studio was the most exciting place we visited in our 7 days trip. For me, visiting Universal Studio is the thing must to do if you go to Singapore, especially if you are teenager who love to play in amusement park. Because Universal Studio Singapore open 10:00 everyday, so we got out from hotel around 9 o’clock. Like usual, we had breakfast at the food stall near the hotel. We took the same bus like yesterday (double decker bus no 80) from Opp Mohd Salleh Mque bus stop directly to Vivo City. One again, we sit on the upper level of the bus to enjoy the view of Singapore. After arrived at Vivo City, we directly went to 3rd floor where Sentosa Station was located. We took the Sentosa Express to go to Universal Studio. After got down at the first station (Waterfront), we finally arrived at Universal Studio area. The day was quite sunny, so it’s a perfect time to play all day in this park.

After visited a lot of place in the second day and the third day, we spent the fourth day by playing in Sentosa Island. Because some of us were very tired because of the trip yesterday, i decided to got out from the hotel a little bit late again. We departed from the hotel around 11 o’clock. Like usual, we had a breakfast in the food stall near the hotel. After had breakfast, we departed to Vivo City by Bus. From the bus stop near the hotel (Opp Mohd Salleh Mque), we took bus no 80. The bus directly headed to Vivo City. We took the double decker bus, and my nephew seems very happy that time. Because since the second day, he always asked to ride the double decker bus. The distance between Geylang area to Vivo City is quite far. It need about 30 minutes of trip. Ride a double decker bus in Singapore was quite fun. It’s more like a city sightseeing tour if we sit on the upper level of the bus.

We started our trip on the third day a little bit late. I estimated that this day would be a grueling trip, because we have a lot of place to visit and some of my family members had never traveling before. Like the previous day, we had a breakfast at 10 o’clock in the food stall near the hotel. After had breakfast, we went back to the hotel. We departed from our hotel around 12 o’clock in the afternoon. We used the bus to go to nearest MRT station (Lavender). Our first destination for that day was Orchard Road, the busiest shopping area in Singapore. We already went to Orchard Road on the first day. But we didn’t do anything at that day, because we were searching for food and the almost all the shops already closed that time.

I planned to spend the second day by go to shopping place and visit several unique area that become the icon of Singapore . We departed from hotel around 9 o’clock. We decide to eat to the food stall across the hotel, because it would waste some time if we had to search for vegetarian food stall again. We finish eating around 09:30.
Our first destination for today is Little India, an area where the majority people who living there is India people. I decided to go by bus directly to Little India. From our hotel (Fragrance Hotel Saphire), we took the bus no 2 from Opp Mohd Salleh Mque and got off at Little India Stn. The bus stop was exactly in front of Little India MRT Station. We crossed the street and we arrived at Tekka Centre of Little India.

Couple of weeks ago on September 10, 2012, i went traveling to Singapore with all my family member (except my father). My father already went on vacation earlier (he went to Thailand alone on May), so this time he stayed at home and didn’t come along with us. This time, i went together with my mother, my younger brother, my older brother, my older brother’s wife and her sister. This is the moment that i waiting so long. Since my childhood, i never have a trip with family member to other city. So i was so happy with this rare opportunity. My younger brother paid the airline ticket, hotel and Universal Studio entrance ticket for all of us.
Actually, this is the third time i go to Singapore. All the time, Singapore is one of my favorite destination to go for vacation. Singapore is also my first destination when i went traveling abroad nine years ago. So i have a pleasant memory about this country.

Mass Transit Railway (MTR) is name of rapid transit railway system in Hongkong. Because i just traveled in Hongkong, today i will share about Hongkong MTR Map. Hongkong MTR is the backbone of the railway system in Hongkong. You can access a lot of place including Hongkong Disneyland, Ferry Terminal, Airport and even Shenzhen (China) by just using this MTR. Compared to MRT in another country, Hongkong MTR offering more efficiency. For me, Hongkong MTR is the most efficient MRT i ever ride. I frequently doesn’t need to walk too far when switching line. That what i like from Hongkong MTR. This MTR system is currently operated by MTR Corporation Limited (MTRCL).
