Sometimes we were not always satisfied with the existing situation. Currently, there are a lot of teenagers are not happy with their life. Although they are have all what they want, but they always feel there is something lack in their lives. This is one of three poisons of the human heart. That is greedy. Not appreciate what we owned, but we always want what does not belong. Today I will share a story about a story on Christmas Day. Hopefully this can give you lesson and reflection that could give good benefit in our life

The last day before Christmas, I rush to the supermarket to buy gifts for chrismast. Actually i don’t have a plan to buy gifts. When looking at the crowd, I began to complain: “It’s going to take forever, and I still have many places to go.” Christmas really annoying every years. I wish I could lie down and sleep and only wake up after. However, I keep running to the toy section, and there I began to curse the prices, wondering if all the kids will really play with such expensive toys.

As I was looking, I saw a child about 5 years old boy, hugging a doll. He kept on touching the hair of the doll and looked so sad. I wondered who the doll was for. The boy approached an old woman near him: “Granny, are you sure I do not have enough money?” The old lady replied: “You know that you do not have enough money to buy this doll, dear.” She then asked him to wait there for about 5 minutes while she went to another place. The boy was still holding the doll in his hand.

Finally, I approached him and asked who he wanted to give this doll. “This is the doll that my sister loved and wanted so much for this Christmas. He believes Santa Claus would bring it to her.” I said maybe Santa Claus would bring to her sister, and that he should not worry. But the boy replied sadly, “No, Santa Claus can not bring it to the place where she is now. I have to give it to my mother, so mommy could give it when mama got there.” The boy’s eyes were so sad while saying this “My sister is gone to God. Daddy said that mommy soon will go to God too, then I think mommy can bring this doll to give to my sister.” My heart seemed to stop.
That boy looked up at me and said: “I want daddy to tell mommy not to go first. I asked her to wait until I get home from the supermarket.” Then he showed a photograph of her laughing. Then he said: “I want mommy took this photo so she will not forget me. I love my mommy and I wish she did not leave me but daddy says that she should go with my brother.” Then he looked at the doll with sad silence.

I quickly reached for my wallet and take some notes and said to the boy. “What if we check again, maybe there is enough money?.” “Ok” he said. “I hope I have enough.” I added my money to his without him seeing and we started counting. There was enough for the doll, and even some spare money. The little boy said: “Thank you God for giving me enough money” Then he looked at me and added: “Yesterday before bed I asked God to make sure I have enough money to buy this doll so that mommy could give it to my sister. He heard me. I also want to buy a white rose for mommy, but I dared not asking too much to God. But He gave me enough to buy a doll and a white rose. You know, my mom likes white roses.”

A few minutes later, his grandmother went back and i go back to queue. I finished my shopping in a totally different mood than when I started. I can not remove him from my mind. Then I remembered a local newspaper article two days ago, which claimed a man driving a truck in a drunken condition and struck a car containing a young woman and a little girl. The little girl died right away, and her mother in critical condition. His family had to decide whether to pull the life support, because she would not be able to get out of the coma. I just wonder whether they are families of this child?

2 days after meeting with the little boy, I read in the newspaper that the young woman had passed away. I could not stop myself and go buy a bunch of white roses and then go to the funeral home where the bodies of the young woman was. She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose with a doll and a boy photograph over her chest. I left the place crying, feeling that my life has changed forever. That boy’s love to the mother and sister, is difficult to imagine.

It starts getting very cold here in Tianjin. Today the temperature reach 5°C. That’s why i so rarely go out from my dormitory. Actually today (Wednesday) is the day i usually used to learn mandarin with my chinese friend. But i did not contact her today. So i spent my time by watching a movie after the class. Today i saw a new movie titled Arthur. This is a comedy drama movie tell a story about the story of a billionaire man called Arthur Bach. Because he has always pampered and has never experienced even slightest trouble, then he became a wealthy man who really can not do anything. Everything change until he meet a tour guide called Naomi and he fall in love to her.

Although the film is not exactly very good but there are some very good meaning and moral lesson inside the movie. As we know together, today’s a lot of people who are accustomed to living well because they parent provide everything. In my country, many of my friends who since childhood has been used in an environment that completely fulfilled. Because their family is wealthy family, so they can get everything they want, just mention for example they can get new gadget like iPad or Playstation 3 so easily. They also can traveling to another country since they still child. They also can eat expensive food in the cafe or restaurant. Environment like this is sometimes makes people forget. It would be nice if we can be grateful for all that we have. But we will not have our wealthy life forever. There was also a time when we face the difficulties in life. Sometimes peoples who are already accustomed living well, will complain when faced with little difficulty. Many people like them can not do anything. Although not as bad as Arthur Bach in Arthur movie, but a lot of little things they can not do. For examples of such are some of my friends. A lot of them can’t sweep the floor, can’t clean their own room, and can’t cook fried eggs. Some of them even worst. Don’t say egg, even instant noodle they can not make by themself. This can happen because they always be pampered by their parent since they was child.

In fact, all the capabilities we have actually we got the most when we are suffering or in trouble. Many times we can learn a lot just from unpleasant experiences. Look at the great figures and the success that we’ve read the story. Everything is there who have never experienced difficult circumstances. So if you face a problem or difficulty, do not rush to blame God. But we should be grateful, because God was trying to train us so that we become a stronger person.

Hearing the news of Steve Jobs death was so shocking to me. He died on October 5, 2011 at the age of 56 because of his pancreatic cancer. I am one of Apple products lover. I use MacBook as my primary computer since 4 years ago. I know that some of the Apple’s spectacular creations was came from Steve Jobs masterpiece. Therefore, I quite admire him. So, to commemorate Steve Jobs and introduced to the world how great of a Steve Jobs, I want to write a short biography of Steve Jobs in 7 phases which we can learn from the life of Steve Jobs during his life, 56 years.

Although a bit long, I think this article is very short to tell a great story on Steve Jobs himself. The story that changed the world and inspire the world of technology.

Steve was born with the name of Steve Paul Jobs. Born on February 25, 1955 in San Francisco, United States, Jobs get his name from the adopted parents Paul and Clara Jobs. It was unclear why Jobs was adopted by these two men.

Steve Jobs’s biological father has a brilliant brain. The father, Abdulfattah John Jandali is a professor of political science. While his mother, Joanne Simpson is a speech therapist.

Began to build Apple Company

Jobs started work in 1974 on the Atari as professional technician. Atari is a company that designed the circuit board. In 1976, Jobs founded the company with his partner Steve Wozniak, the company now well-known as the biten white apple logo, Apple. With a vision to change the world, Jobs started his career.

After removing the first computer called the Macintosh, Steve Jobs was fired by Apple CEO John Sculley. Internal tensions cause rift working relationship that also affected for declining corporate performance after that. Jobs also regarded as a bad-tempered, easily change his mind and stubborn.

From this point, it seems clear that Jobs was at the lowest point in his life, abandoned by his partner and must get out of the company he founded.

Establish NeXT Computer

It’s not Steve Jobs if he give up because of that. Jobs then establish a new company called NeXT Computer. The product produced by NeXT Computer is considered failed and costly. Until these times, Steve Jobs suffer was not over yet. Even failed, this experience make Steve’s career better in the future.

Achieve success at Pixar

Steve Jobs acquired a small animation film studio Pixar in 1986. Pixar started to move successfully in the following year. Jobs achieved his success after the release of Toy Story in 1995. From this, we can learn that Jobs always make his own success path. Without looming by the shadow of his past, Jobs can start his own success story in different field (not computer industry, but film animation).

NeXT Acquisition by Apple

At the end of 1996, Jobs was trying to make Apple acquire NeXT Computer. With pretext that NeXT operating system was required by Apple, Jobs finally sold NeXT Computer to Apple for USD 429 Million. At this point, we can see that Jobs was once again once again achieve his success like what he did in Toy Story. Jobs also managed to transform the company into something worth that previously not profitable for him.

Steve Jobs returned to Apple

Because of his talents, Jobs finally returned to Apple eventually and served as CEO. From 1997, Jobs released a phenomenal products like  iPod, iMac, iPhone, iPad and iCloud that make Apple achieve great success, even in the stock market. Jobs achieve his success because of hard work, unyielding spirit and his desire to create products that change the world, according to Apple’s vision when he founded the first time.

Be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer

Jobs must haunted his success and glory with pancreatic cancer in August 2004 and eventually had to undergo surgery. Jobs, who eventually was chose as the American best CEO, repeatedly must leave work because of his poor health conditions. Here, Jobs was still thinking about the world and continue to create products while still in an unhealthy condition.

Jobs once again resigned from Apple

Jobs knew that he can survive long enough and thought for the good of the company. The team finally chose Cook as the next CEO of Apple. That time Steve Jobs decide to resigned from Apple. By reason of his health conditions, Jobs officially resigned on August 24, 2011. Public had doubts Apple for a while after Steve Jobs resigned. Although the stock market had showed declines, the stock finally recovered later.

His death was considered a loss to the world of techology

October 5, 2011, Jobs had to leave the world he loved, the public loved him. Jobs died at the age of 56, seven years after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. On his death he was widely described as a visionary, pioneer and genius in the field of innovation, and product design, and a man who had profoundly changed the face of the modern world. His death was widely mourned and considered a loss to the world.

Steve, who was once famous for his temper, even now regarded as a visionary. In the family, he is regarded as a warm father. Many people who publicly expressed his appreciation for the contribution of Steve Jobs in the technology world, including Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.

After know Steve Jobs story, I feel motivated by his life story. Jobs are very popular because of his contribution to technology. He was also unyielding to circumstances, always strive to be better and give better. Although not all people have Apple gadget, I think most people know what it is Apple. His masterpieces will be remembered in generations.

Good deeds are the source of all good things happening in the world. The more chaotic the world in recent years due to fewer good deeds done by humans. Many people today who no longer believe in the law of karma. Therefore, people are not afraid anymore to do something bad. This is the reason why the world become increasingly chaotic. So… what can we do now to make this world better? Let us start from our own. Start of our own good deeds. Sometimes something good we do for other people will be remembered, and they will also do the same thing to others. If the chain continues, it will be more and more people who do good in this world. Here is a story about how the good deeds will bring about other good deeds.

Bob Butler lost both his legs because of mine explosion during the Vietnam War in 1965. He came home as a war hero. Twenty years later, she proved that heroism comes from the heart.

Butler was working in the garage in a small town in Arizona on a hot summer day. At that moment he heard a woman screaming hysterically from behind the neighbor’s house. He pedaled his wheelchair into the house and headed to the backyard. But there is a locked fence that does not allow the wheelchair to pass. The veteran then got out of the chair, jumped over the fence with both hands and crawled through the bushes and grass as soon as possible.

“I shall soon get there,” he said. “No matter if it will hurt my body.”

When Butler arrived at the back of the house, screaming that he followed came from the pool, where there is a three-year-old girl lying on the bottom of the pond. The child was born with no arms, fell into the pool and could not swim.

Her mother stood at the edge of the pool, yelling hysterically. Butler immediately dive into the bottom of the pool and brought Stephanie out. His face already turned blue, there was no pulse and no breathing.

Butler immediately give artificial respiration when Stephanie’s mother called the fire department (911). He said all firefighters are out on duty, and there is no officer in the office. Knowing there is no hope to rescue her daughter, she cried and hugged Butler’s shoulders.

While continuing to give artificial respiration, Butler try to calm Stpehanie’s mother. “Do not worry,” he said. “I will be a hand to take him out of the pool. He’ll be fine. Now I will be her lungs. Together we will get through this.”

Two minutes later the little girl coughed, regained consciousness and began to cry. When they hugged and thanked his mother Stephanie asked how Butler could know that all will be allright.

When my legs off in the Vietnam war, I was alone in the middle of the field, Butler told me. “No one wants to come to help, except a young Vietnamese woman. With difficulty he dragged me to the village, and he whispered with his broken English, ‘Everything is OK. You could live. I became your feet. Together we can get through it all. ‘”

“Right now is my turn,” said Butler told his mother Stephanie, “To reply all that I have received.”

Many people today do not believe the law of cause and effect. In Buddhism this familiar with the name of Karma, in Christianity known as sowing and reaping. Basically every human actions will cause and effect. Whether it resulted directly or indirectly. Because of distrust of modern humans at this, causing so many people today are not afraid to do something bad. This is what caused the world becomes increasingly chaotic lately. The following story is a true story about the law of cause and effect which could be a good example to illustrate how the so-called sowing and reaping.

One day a young man was walking in the woods, he suddenly heard a cry for help. Apparently he saw a young age as he was struggling with a floating sludge. The more moving even deeper he sank. The first young man had desperately wanted to give his help. With great effort the second young man’s can be saved. The first young man then take the second young man returned to his home.

Unexpectedly, the second young man was a rich kid. His house is very nice, large and exceptional luxury. This young man’s father is very grateful for the help given to their children and want to give money, but the first young man had refused the gift. He said that it is proper fellow human beings to help others who need help. Since this incident they became friends.

The first young man is a poor man while the second young man was the son of a wealthy nobleman. The poor boy, aspires to become a doctor, but he did not have the cost of college. Then there is a generous scholarship that would give him until finally earned his doctor. This person is no other than the second youth’s father was helping earlier.

Do you know the name of the poor young man who eventually became a doctor in this story? His name is Alexander Fleming, who later discovered penicillin drug. The nobles young man join army and in a task to the battlefield he was severely injured causing a very high fever due to infection. At that time there is no cure for such infections. The doctors heard about the discovery of penicillin and Dr.Flemming injected him with penicillin that he found. What happens then? Gradually the fever due to infection subsided and the boy was finally cured!

As long as we live, we interact with many people. From so many people we know, there are some people that close with us, there are not so close to us. But for some people there are several person who they think is special in their eyes. As long as we live, we can make our lives more beautiful with enthusiasm, love and care from other people. The way we interact with people determines our relationship with someone. The following story is an example of a beautiful relationship between two human beings. Although they never met, but they both have a very special relationship.

When I was still a child, my father already had a telephone in our house. This was the beginning of the phone, black color, hanging on the wall, and if you want to contact the operator, we have to spin the rotary dial and have connected with another phone number. The operator will connect manually. In a short time, I found that, if i rotate the rotary dial, a friendly voice, will say: “Operator”. And the operator is omniscient. He knew all other people’s phone numbers! He knew the restaurant phone numbers, hospitals, and even phone number of town bakery at the city border. The first experience with the operator happens when no one at home, and my left thumb pinched by the door. I was turning in pain and put it into the mouth while I remember …. “Operator!” I immediately spin the rotary dial and waited for her voice. “Here the operator …” “My thumb pinched by door …” I said, crying. Now my emotions can be overwhelming, because there is someone else listening. “Is your mother home?” She asked. “Nobody” “Is your thumb bleeding?” “No, but the color is red, and it really hurt” “Can you open the fridge?” She asked. “Yes, i could. i stand on the bench.” “Take a piece of ice and stick it on your thumb …” Since then I always call the operator if i need anything. Time can not answer the question of earth sciences, what is the name of the capital of a State, asked about mathematics. She also explained that the squirrels that I caught can be used as pets. What its eat is nut or fruit. One day, my pet bird died. I call the operator and reported the news of this grief. She listened all complaints, then speak the word commonly uttered by adults to comfort children who are sad. But my condolences too big. I asked: “Why the smart birds that can sing and always make me happy is now lying in his cage and isn’t move at all?” She said quietly: “Because he is now singing in a different world …” These words can calm me a little bit. How full of understanding and willing she is to serve a child. A few years later, when i already at college, i am on study trip to my hometown. Soon after I arrived, I called the office phone, and ask for the operator and i hear “Here the operator” Sound the same. The same warm-hearted. I asked: “Can you spelled words kukuruyuk” There was a pause. Then there is the question: “your thumb that pinched already healed right?” I laughed. “It’s You …. Wow time goes so fast. Right?” I also explain how grateful I am for all the talk with her when i was a child. I always enjoyed it. She said seriously: “I enjoyed talking with you. I’m always waiting for you to call” I tell her that she has a special place in my heart. I asked what should call her again next time. “Sure, my name is Saly” Three months later I was back to my hometown. I call telephone operator. The sound is very different. I asked to speak with the operator whose name is Saly. The voice asked “Are you her friend?” “Yes, a very old friend” “Sorry to proclaim this, Saly last few years working part time because of her illness. She died five weeks ago …” Before I hung up, suddenly the voice asked: “Excuse me, are you Mr. Paul?” “Yes” “Saly leave a message for you. She wrote it on a piece of paper, please wait for a while …..” He then read out a message from Saly: “Tell Paul, that SHE NOW SINGING IN ANOTHER WORLD … Paul will understand these words ….” I hung up the phone. I know what Saly means. Never underestimate, how you touch others life.

Today I once again did sightseeing around Tian Jin. Because I am a vegan, the most wanted I looking for during my stay at Tian Jin is Vegetarian Restaurant. And yesterday i use my free time to find Vegetarian restaurant in Tian Jin. Vegetarian Restaurant is rather difficult to find here. Unlike my hometown, Surabaya, there are many depots and vegetarian restaurant you can find. In Tian Jin, i’ve only found three vegetarian restaurant from the internet. The first restaurant is the one that i visited yesterday, Yuan Man Restaurant (圆满素食饭馆 Yuanman Sushi Fanguan). Yesterday i use MRT from my campus to 下挖风 Xia Wa Feng station before i continue go to the restaurant by bus. Before i go to the restaurant, I spend a little time to look arround one of Tian Jin parks named People Park (人民公园 Renmin Gongyuan).

This park centrally located and frequently become host of recreational and entertainment activities for Tian Jin people. I entered this park from South San Gate (South East side of the Park). First, i walk to the north section of the park. There are children’s play area here. There are several game machines here. From there i continue my sightseeing to the west side of the garden. Although this park not as big as Shui Shang Gong Yuan, i think this park have a quite good scenery. In the west section of the park there is a small lake called Peacock Garden. The Peacock Garden has unique Dai Nationality architecture and free-roaming peacocks.

After about 30 minutes spent time here, i continue my trip to the Yuan Man Vegetarian Restaurant. By using bus no 678, i finally arrived at the restaurant.

This is the first vegetarian restaurant in Tian Jin. It written on their menu as the motto of the restaurant. First, i imagine that this restaurant would be empty of visitors. Since I found out that the people here don’t understand to much about vegetarian, so i think there were not to many vegan people here. But after entered this restaurant, i was a little shocked. There are not a few people who ate there. In my opinion, the place was not too bad. Pretty good in fact. Today I ordered three dishes, which is Western Fried Rice, Mushroom and Lamb Satay Noodle. The most delicious menu was vegetarian i ate Lamb Satay. The Satay here is more delicious than the satay in my country.
