Finally, Browsing unlimited with Telkom Flash on Mac using Hwawei E220
Finally, my telkom flash card had been received yesterday. I decide to change my internet connection from Speedy to Flash. Actually, i satisfied with Speedy, but the limited volume to use every month makes me decide to change to unlimited service. From all service offered, i choose Telkom Flash as the substitution.
I ask for help of my sister in law at Batu to register telkom flash card at Malang. Because i don’t have KTP for Surabaya, i am not allowed to register telkom flash at Grapari Surabaya. I decided to use Hwa Wei Vodafone E220 as the modem, hearing a lot of people very satisfied using this modem. This modem also recommended by one D-Net Network Technician as one of the best 3G Modem he ever tried as technician. First, I tried using it on Windows XP. It’s worked perfectly with no problem at all on Windows XP . Just plug the modem and it’s running itself. But when i tried this on Mac OS Leopard, it seems doesn’t work. This is not a common thing happen in Mac. Because, usually all hardware working immediately when we plug it on Mac OS. After several minutes, i tried, finally i found how to make it works in Mac. Here are the steps :
1. First, you must download the drivers from here. Install it and make sure you install both of file in the zip.
2. Plug the modem into your Mac’s USB port.
3. Open Finder and go to Applications. Find Mobile Connect
4. Enter your PIN Number gived by Telkom
default : 1234
5. After that, click Settings
6. Click New to create New Profile
7. Enter Following Data :
Profile Name : whatever you want as the name of connection
Access Point Name : internet
Telephone Number : *99#
8. Click Ok
9. Back to Mobile Connect and click Connect. You will be asked a user password for your Mac OS X. Enter the password, and you can online immediately
After about 1 day have been using flash, i quite satisfy with the connection. It’s as fast as Speedy for browsing and faster when downloading some files on rapidshare or other website. Hopes there are not a lot people register telkom flash recent month. hehehe
